2019 BGA Spring Competition Result – Venue Torwoodlee Golf Club – Sunday 28th April
A total of 65 golfers entered the Spring Competition divided into 3 classes. The weather was fine, the ground hard and the pins, according to some golfer in difficult places, some golfers always want it easy. David Gillie and Bruce Currie got the competition started at 8.00 am and the last tee time was 1.04 pm. Andy Lawrie put himself into a good position with a scratch score of 70, one over par and was 2nd in his class. This was matched by Paul McVie playing off a handicap of 1 which gave him a nett score of 69 which won him division 1. Simon Fairburn also scored 70 but as he has to add two strokes to his score to return a score of 72. His downfall was out of bounds at the 16th hole which cost him a 7. Euan Reilly took 3rd place with a net 70.
Best net score of the day came from Steven Aries in division 2. Playing off a handicap of 10 he finished with a net 64. Chris Burns and Steve Wright were 2nd and 3rd with 68’s with Chris having the better inward half.
Division 3 was also close with Scott Ormiston piping Robert Thomson on the inward half, both scored 34 points The Stableford format was used in the 3rd class. Drew Oliver held up the honour of Newcastleton with 3rd place with 32 points.
The BGA thank Torwoodlee for the use of the course and the catering staff for looking after the player’s needs. Thanks also the players who made the tournament a great success.
